Artist Statement:

Since 2000, I have devoted all my energies to developing my art.  I have returned to my first love, oil painting.  I have been called a “Colorist.”  I paint with vibrant bold colors and with meticulous detail.  With each painting, I express a certain mood or feeling that is conveyed through nature. My paintings are composed on Photoshop from photographs I have taken. I paint from life and photograph, which allows me to get the most detail and to push the colors found in nature. My current series is close to my heart; it evolves around a pond I built that includes fish, a waterfall, a stream and a bog with water lilies, lotus flowers and other water plants.  The pond attracts fireflies, frogs and other wild life, and this serves as a great inspiration for my paintings.

I am a full time artist, photographer and gardener.  I am a member of the League of Milwaukee Artists and the Wisconsin Painters and Sculptors.  I have participated in server al juried shows, including the Milwaukee Artist Market at the Milwaukee Art Museum. I won the Award of Excellence in 2005 at the League of Milwaukee Cedarburg show.

I graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1974 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education, with an emphasis in Oil Painting. In 2001 I completed my Master’s Degree at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee in Art Education, with an emphasis in Computer Graphics. In 2004 and 2005, I took professional photography classes at Milwaukee Area Technical College.
